Fred and George closed their shop around 12 noon for lunch on Saturday

"The Three Broomsticks it is! " said George as they cheerfully grabbed  bags of wizard money from their upstairs flat and headed for the downstairs door. They walked out into the streets of Hogsmeade and Fred casually flipped the “Open” sign to “Closed” with a flick of his wand. They made their way down the street to the tavern and took a table in the back of the place. It was dark inside, despite it being noon. They ordered food and a few Butterbeers; George asked for his with a shot of Firewhiskey—he insisted he was quite cold, even with his Dragon skin coat.

Business had been very slow ever since the end of the last Hogwarts school year. George suspected it was because the town people were just afraid to be out and about so visible when Voldemort could be lurking anywhere, planning attacks. Fred agreed, but both the Twins weren't really bothered by those thoughts. That's why their shop remained open. They had taken an oath, so to speak, to make sure that their public --specifically the students at Hogwarts--,  would always have quality gags and jokes to purchase and use on unsuspecting family and friends. That included during times of war, when laughter and being jovial rarely existed. “Weasley Wizard Wheezes” had been pretty lucrative as well, until this past summer that is. Now, they had maybe one or two witches or wizards wander in, usually asking for a Trick Wand, or their more popular items, like the Extendable Ears. Verity helped a lot, but the Twins were worried they might have to let her go if business dropped off too much.

"Let's keep her around for the food, " said Fred when talking to George about it earlier that day while Verity was back in the store room. George agreed--she definitely could cook, but didn't want to let her go just because business was slow. She had become a trusted friend. The idea was shoved out of their mind, and their conversation interrupted, when a customer had come in looking for a pair of the Ears.

When they were finished with their meal, the two left a few knuts as a tip, and headed back towards their shoppe. The sun had began to go behind a cloud, and the wind kicked the chill up into the air, swirling about Fred and George as they walked back. As they approached the shoppe, they saw a few first years standing outside, waiting to be let in. George and Fred both chuckled, “Ickle firsts after my own heart, “ said Fred. Fred was referring to the fact that they must have found the old tunnel leading from Hogwarts into town. “Well, no denying them our products if they have come all this way,” grinned George and the Twins opened their shoppe and let the first years in. They clamored for the newest products on the shelves close to the door.

Fred and George drew great breaths in and stood at the entrance of their shoppe, taking in what was before them: their hard work paying off. They loved what they did, and both of them agreed that no matter WHAT, they would never close down their shoppe…..Voldemort or not.
