Personality:Quiet, shy and introspective, but Remus wants to be liked and that's where he slips up. He's been disliked so often that he's always so pleased to have friends, and this causes him to look the other way when he shouldn't. For this reason, he is sometimes willing to compromise his otherwise strong ethical and moral code.Remus is a quiet, sensitive man with a wry, somewhat deadpan, intelligent sense of humor. He has an immense depth of kindness and personal warmth. He will protect his friends at all costs, including the possibility of losing his own life. He feels responsible for the well being of Harry Potter, due to the close friendship he shared with James, Lily, and Sirius. He is not antisocial, but he is very uncomfortable being in the spotlight. Remus just has moments where he desperately needs to be alone, just as he has moments where he needs to be with friends. He has an immense capacity for reflection and self-doubt. Due to his solitary childhood, he keeps inside all the hurt and pain unless he is with someone he really trusts. If left alone when depressed, he'll end up in a rout of self-pity. The past is as clear as crystal to him and his hindsight is not only 20/20 but almost always switched on. He has a long memory. Curiously, he does not hold grudges, unless the sins committed are entirely unforgivable. The lycanthropy is very frustrating at times to Remus, because for years it prevented him from doing so much that he would have liked to. It hurts him deeply to be rejected, and it burns especially when the rejection is because of his condition, which he did not ask to contract. With the help and love of Tonks, he has finally stopped running from his past and his condition. Remus displays an incredible amount of self-control and discipline, something that he has worked very hard at over the years. This self-control is also quite effective in hiding the more mischievous side of his personality. It takes quite a lot to get him to lose his temper. Most of the time he is polite and mild-mannered, but if he is pushed too hard he will be deliciously snarky. He always seems to have chocolate on him. Due to his shyness, Remus tends to hide a lot of his talents. Likes:Music, singing (when he thinks no one is listening), Reading, theatre, writing, studying, chocolate, physical affection, chess (wizards or regular), Scrabble, games, horseback riding, cooking, drawing, spending time with his friends, walking in the woods.Dislikes:Cats, Filch, Death Eaters, werewolf hunters, Voldemort, Snape, intolerance, procrastination, talking about his condition, feeling so alone.Family:Mother: Cassandra Rhiannon O'Brien (deceased) WitchFather: John Patrick Lupin (believed to be deceased) Muggle Siblings: None Significant Other: Nymphadora Tonks Children: None Close Friends: Nymphadora Tonks, most Order members, Sirius Black, James Potter, Lily (Evans) Potter His Condition:Remus suffers from lycanthropy, so consequently he often looks ill and exhausted just prior to and after the full moon. However, this also gives him an accelerated metabolism and rate of healing. Given enough time, Remus can heal nearly any injury that does not affect his heart, brain, or lungs. He has numerous scars on his body.Remus has an accelerated metabolism, due to his lycanthropy. He is tall and slender, but possesses the lithe, muscular body of someone in very good condition. His hair was flecked with gray, done by use of a hair coloring charm to hide the fact that like all werewolves, he is resistant to aging. However since his condition is now public knowledge and there's no longer any need to hide, Remus has stopped using the coloring charm. The Wolfsbane Potion: Normally a werewolf is subject to uncontrolled dementia, and all trace of human awareness is gone; the werewolf will attack any witch or wizard, including the werewolf's best friends. Modern potion-making has come up with a draught called Wolfsbane Potion. While this potion can't cure lycanthropy, it does prevent the extremely dangerous dementia which accompanies the transformation from human into werewolf. A werewolf who is taking a regular regimen of Wolfsbane Potion will not transform until the moonlight actually strikes him. Remus faithfully takes this potion on a regular basis. Hogwarts Life:House/Year: Gryffindor/Alumni (September, 1971 - June, 1978)Title: Prefect (September, 1975 - June 1978) N.E.W.T.S: DADA, Charms, Herbology, Potions, Transfiguration, Muggle Studies Top Subjects: DADA, Charms, Transfiguration Worst Subjects: Care of Magical Creatures, Divination Levicorpus History (beyond the Lexicon) :Remus contracted lycanthropy at the age of 9, when he was bitten by a werewolf. He came back from a walk in the woods bleeding and battered, and was quickly rushed to the hospital by his parents. His Muggle father was certain is was just a dog bite, and was not overly concerned about the injury... until young Remus changed for the first time during the full moon the next month.Unable to accept "the monster", his father abandoned the family. Fearing for her son's safety, Cassandra moved the family to an isolated bit of land in Ireland. Cassandra was uncertain about how to control her son during his change, so she constructed a large stone building not too far off from their home. When it neared time for Remus to change, he would go to the building and his mother would lock the iron door. The next morning, she would unlock the door and bring her poor son back home. Remus spent most of his young life alone, with only his mother and his books for company. He adored his mother, and wished he could have done something to help make her life better. When Albus Dumbledore learned of this poor unfortunate young boy though a mutual acquaintance of his and Cassandra's, he made arrangements for several safeguards to be built at Hogwarts Castle (namely the Womping Willow, and the tunnel leading to the house he'd had constructed in Hogsmeade). Remus received his letter when he turned 11, and was sent to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Many years later, he accepted the position of Professor at Hogwarts, teaching Defence Against the Dark Arts. Things went well for the most part, but Remus made a horrible mistake. When the Marauder map showed Sirius Black dragging Ron and Peter into the Whomping Willow with Hermione and Harry in pursuit, Remus forgot to take his Wolfsbane Potion. When he later transformed he was subject to uncontrolled dementia and almost attacked the children. Concerned for the safety of the students, Remus Lupin resigned and left Hogwarts. He took up residence in Number 12, Grimmauld Place with his best friend Sirius Black a year later, and was an active member of the Order. After the events at the Department of Mysteries, Dumbledore asked Lupin to go underground to infiltrate the werewolf community and try to draw support away from Voldemort. He was reluctant to agree, but finally accepted as he was the "tailor made" for this mission. After the death of Albus Dumbledore, Remus and Tonks decided to try and patch things up in their relationship. Remus continues to help with the Order, and to try and be there for Harry as best as he can. Miscellaneous:Place of Birth: Blackpool, Lancashire, Britain.Home: O'Brien Grove, just outside Co.
