Adara couldn't help but
feel utterly and completely bored. The days had blurred together since her
assisted escape from Azkaban prison and all the waiting about had been driving
her crazy; more so than the time she had spent in the disgusting hole in the
earth. She needed something. Something more than jewelery, house elves and
pretty clothes. Usually that would be enough, but not now Adara knew what she needed...
fun. Her hair flowed into it's simple but elegant bun, and she finished getting
dressed.
She entered the lounge of the Riddle house smiling at the sight that welcomed
her. Lucius and Snape were sitting comfortably in the ornate chair in front of
the fire place with a rather large flask of Fire Whiskey.
"Field trip boys. Does everyone have a partner?"
Lucius felt the warm Fire Whiskey rush through
him and smiled as Adara suddenly appeared. Politely, he stood so as to allow
her to sit and took hold of the chair's back to hold himself erect.
"Field trip?" He felt his smile nearly break into a laugh as he
looked between his two cohorts. "I have just the idea." Quickly
Lucius ran through the details of a plan, which he had been thinking over for a
while. "I can only imagine the Dark Lord's pleasure if Trelawney were to
finally fall into our hands."
Severus’s mildly entertained expression suddenly
lost all interest. “That wouldn’t be advisable.”
He tolerated the glares from Adara and Lucius for just a moment before
continuing his lecture, “She’s at Hogwarts… she doesn’t leave for the summer.”
Exasperated, Severus waited for the realization to appear.
Adara’s grin grew wide as she glided across the
room to where her comrade was standing with his arms crossed. She picked up the
man’s hands and started to playfully dance with his unmoving form.
“It’s always rules with you Severus, where is your sense of excitement?” Adara
purred. “So the old bat is in Hogwarts, all the more fun for us.”
Severus remained expressionless.
“It would please him you know” She said as her grin melted into a defiant
scowl. “And as we all know Severus, pleasing him is a task that would help make
up for your... expulsion?”
Her grin returned as she pranced towards Lucius.
Severus loathed when people challenged his
loyalty. He’d proven himself many times… to both the Order and the Death
Eaters.
He scowled at both Lucius and Adara from across the room, “If you can think of
a plan, then by all means Adara.”
Lucius smiled at Snape’s hesitation, the man was
a damn good ally, but he often seemed far more cautious than was necessary.
“Come Severus, it shouldn’t be difficult, the school is empty, if we have any
chance in this, now is the time.” Adara smiled and they both looked at Snape,
who merely scowled. “You know the Dark Lord will be pleased.” He knew that
Severus’ silence simply meant that there was no further objections which he
could make to the plan and so Lucius stood and reached for Adara’s hand. “Well,
Severus, if you do choose to join us, by all means do so.” He pulled his wand free
and with a single flick apparated to Hogsmeade.
Severus let out an exasperated groan and
apparated to Hogsmeade, landing beside Lucius and Adara. “Let’s make it quick,”
he glared at the pair and took off at a quick pace towards the castle.
Finally the castle gates came into view. Severus glanced over his shoulder to
confirm that Lucius and Adara had kept up. He heard the protests of Lucius as
Severus walked through the gates.
Lucius dropped a hand on Snape’s shoulder and
watched the man turn and glare at him. “Severus, what about the wards?” He
hissed, glancing around for fear that they would be spotted in such an open
location. Fortunately not even Hagrid could be seen and after Severus quickly
explained the lack of wards at this time of year – and with Dumbledore’s
absence.
Conveniently, the front doors were wide open and Lucius hesitated, but only
momentarily, at the idea that maybe there were more visitors to the school than
they assumed that there would be. However, after spotting Filch and Mrs. Norris
fast asleep in one corner of the main foyer, he relaxed slightly.
Lucius watched Severus motion in one direction and was glad for the indication,
it had been far too long since he had been within the walls and was more than a
little disappointed that little had changed; the same moving stairwells, the
same giant hourglasses, just one of the things which had always bothered Lucius
about the school.
Adara ran slightly ahead of her male allies and
skipped as they headed up the long stairway and ladder that lead to the
Divination classroom and the bounty they had come to collect. Adara almost
cackled as she forced the door of the classroom open. The defenseless witch
scrambled for her wand across the room with surprising speed. Unfortunately for
the fortuneteller, Adara’s mouth moved faster then the woman’s legs.
“Crucio!” Adara giggled.
Trelawney’s body danced a wonderful dance of pain as her throat released a
stream of shrieks that mixed with Adara’s laughter. The fun had ended when
Snape’s voice bellowed above the rest of the painful symphony.
“ENOUGH!” The man yelled.
Adara dropped the spell and flashed a menacing smile towards Snape. She headed
to the doorway allowing the men to magically bind the older witch in ropes.
Lucius smiled to Adara as they watched Snape tie
up the fortuneteller, and he longed to get the witch down into the dungeons.
He’d had to listen to so many of Draco’s horror stories about the woman’s
‘talent’ that it was going to be a pleasure, in which he hoped that Draco would
take part in.
“Let’s get out of here.” Lucius aimed his wand at Trelawney and mumbled a low “Levi
corpus,” as they moved towards the exit. He thought he saw Snape cringe at
the word, but frankly the adrenaline was running far too quickly for him to
care. Lucius watched as Adara kicked the woman down the ladder and although his
urge was to smile, he frowned instead.
“What are you doing?” He growled as he turned around and followed the woman’s
body down to the stairwell. “She isn’t to be damaged.”

Arthur wandered through the halls of Hogwarts,
more lost than he would ever gladly admit to. The stairs up seemed familiar,
but then, so had the last set which had led up to the Owlery and that was
definitely not where he wanted to be. Hoping at least that he would find
someone who could lead him back in the right direction, Arthur shrugged and
slowly moved up the stairs, when a sudden scream sent a shiver through him. He
pulled his wand out. A moment later, the
bellowed word ‘ENOUGH’ caused him to quicken his pace, and he skipped steps up
to the top. He nearly called out, to see if everything was alright, when a
woman’s body seemed to fall from nowhere and land directly in front of him. Her
eyes widened when she saw him, and Arthur stepped back when he saw that a
second individual was moving to descend a large ladder. He stepped back and
aimed at the descending form “Petrificus totalis!” The body tensed and
fell backwards, landing on top of the older woman who was still bound at
Arthur’s feet. Arthur’s eyes widened when he recognized this new arrival as
Lucius Malfoy.

As she descended down the stairs, all Adara
could see was the flash of red hair that she quickly identified as her blood
traitor of a brother, Arthur Weasley. The world became blurry. Details of her
surrounding vanished before her eyes. The only thing Adara saw was that runt,
that traitor, that hair that matched her own. Before she knew it she was
barreling down the stairs tossing curse after curse at the man she reluctantly
called brother.
Arthur’s heart stopped when he recognized Ardara
– or the woman who matched the last picture that he had seen of her – but he
hardly had time to consider this as curse after curse was thrown at him. He
seemed to unfreeze and although his instinct was to turn and run, he didn’t and
quickly threw out the counter-curses. Something in his chest began to ache when
he recognized the fighting style from when they had dueled as children and
easily pushed some of the curses away.
Severus realized something was amiss, and
quickly made his way towards the stairs. He spotted flaming red hair that
didn’t belong to Adara and scowled. He saw Arthur lose his concentration for a
just a slip of a moment.
Adara shot the last curse, the most deadly, a jet of green shot from her wand
and was headed straight for Arthur’s chest. Fear flooded Severus’s eyes, and he
quickly muttered “agitus,” which violently pushed Arthur out of the way, and
into the wall.
Arthur couldn’t entirely understand what was
happening, the last thing he’d known he was madly fending off Adara’s attacks
and now he was shoved against one of the castle walls, as Adara’s ‘avada
kedavra’ bounced off the floor beside him and struck one of the castle’s
plants. It took Arthur a full minute to realize that it was Snape’s spell which
had pushed him out of the way and now it was his silent ‘petrificus totalis’
which was now striking him to the ground. He could see nothing more than the
stairwell’s ceiling, but could hear as Snape was holding Adara back, telling
her that there was no time. For a moment, Arthur pondered his own mortality,
wondering if maybe the curse had struck him after all, but realized that Snape
was saving him from his sister, again. Obediently, he closed his eyes, but with
his back to them, it would be hard for them to notice that he was still
breathing and hoping even Lucius wouldn’t stop to check on their rush to
escape.
She had come so close to finally killing that
rat of a sibling. So close just to be stopped by her so-called ally. Adara
struggled against Snape for a minute until she heard the footsteps that could
belong to that Squib who cleaned and watched over these disgusting halls. She
once again raised her wand getting ready to make up for lost ground. Snape
quickly grabbed her by the arm and muttered a counter jinx to free Lucius. The
wizard slowly raised himself to his feet and brushed himself off. It took but a
second for him to realize what was happening. Adara struggled free from Snape’s
grasp and latched on to his arm, waiting for him to escort her out from the
castle. She cried ‘levicorpus’ before she turned her back to the woman
and quickly started to walk away from the mess the three had produced.
