After quickly taking his leave of Molly, Ginny and the boys, Arthur stepped outside the Burrow. Concentrating hard, he felt a slight tug on his belly-button before he appeared infront of the Longbottom residence. He hummed as he glanced around the house's empty yard, before walking up to the door and knocking.

Neville's grandmother answered the door, her wand lifted and ready for an attacker.

"Oh, Mr. Weasley! I'm so sorry, but this is how Neville and I have been answering the door ever since the incident with Draco Malfoy. I hope I didn't scare you. Please come in. I am assuming you are here to pick up Draco's wand. Neville told me you'd be coming sometime this week. Can I get you anything to eat or drink, dear?"

Neville came out of his bedroom with a look of boredom on his face. But he smiled when he saw Mr. Weasley standing in the living room.

"Thank you so much for coming, Mr. Weasley," he said. "I cannot wait to get rid of Draco Malfoy's wand. Come, let me show you where it is."

"Certainly, Neville." Mr. Weasley followed the boy through the house and into a small room waiting for Neville to retrieve the wand for him, trying not to think of how many things he had to get done that day.

Once Mr. Weasley was inside his room, Neville closed the door and covered the windows.

"Just in case someone is watching us," he said.

He then unlocked his trunk and removed the books and parchment he had placed inside. He had just removed the last book when he looked down at the empty trunk. Where was the wand?

Neville began to flip through all of his books and unroll his parchment, frantically looking for the long piece of wood. He continued to look inside the trunk as well, just in case he had missed it. Finally he looked up at Mr. Weasley, a look of panic on his face.

"The wand isn't here! I can't find it!"

"What?" Arthur felt his heart jump and he rushed over to the large trunk, which Neville was leaning over. After a moment of each one scrambling through the trunk's contents they came up empty-handed. "You're sure this is where you left it? You didn't move it somewhere that would have been more safe, maybe?"

Neville shook his head violently.  "No, Mr. Weasley, I'm positive! This is where I put it that night. I remember muttering to myself that if Draco tried to summon his wand, it would make enough noise to wake me up. And I have not even opened this trunk since then, for fear of being attacked if we were being watched by death eaters."  He continued to search through the books and parchment. He even searched the trunk for a hidden compartment.  "I just don't understand how this could have happened."

Arthur's head was reeling, suddenly overwhelmed with guilt; had the Death Eaters gotten in here when Neville was asleep, or in another room? The boy could have been killed! How stupid he'd been for not confiscating the wand that night and snapping right then! He took a deep breath and tried to think.

"Okay, has anyone been in here since you left the wand there? Or have you and your grandmother been out of the house when maybe someone could have snuck in here to take it?"

"No, no one has been here since I the Malfoy incident," he replied. "Except... Colin and Dennis Creevy stopped by unexpectedly the other day. And I did leave Dennis unattended for a few minutes. He messed the place up a bit, but Colin said he was just chasing after his snitch. My bedroom was completely intact, so I don't think he entered it."

"Hmmm." Arthur scowled, shaking his head and pacing a few steps, before turning back to Neville. "Well, we should contact them and have them questioned at the very least. I certainly don't think any of the Creeveys could be Death Eaters themselves, but we don't want to overlook the possibility of the Imperius. Do you have an owl that I can use?"

Neville's eyes grew huge when Mr. Weasley mentioned the Imperius curse. "Do you really think someone could have done that to them?" he asked.  But before Mr. Weasley could answer him, he left the room to get his grandmother's owl. "Here she is," he said. "Who are you going to write to?"

"Tonks." Arthur quickly began scribbling down a quick note. "She is familiar with these things and should be able to tell us right away." He quickly sealed up the letter and sent the owl off. "And I wouldn't worry about anything Mr. Longbottom. I don't think the Creeveys would be visiting with a Malfoy long enough for something like this to happen, but it's best to be sure." Arthur paced for another moment before returning his gaze to Neville. "I'm sure Tonks will want to speak with you herself, as well as the Creeveys. Even if this wasn't Imperius, there's something going on here that we must get to the bottom of."

"Well, I would be happy to talk to her about everything. I'll give her every detail. I just want to find out what happened to that wand. Just have her send me an owl telling me when and where she wants to talk."
