There was a wagon among the other abandon items in the shed.  Draco rolled it down to the grocery.  Lacy eyed it from behind the counter as he checked items off his rather long list.

"Did they lock you in the closet again?" she asked.

"No," Draco said, as he took a couple of boxes of baking soda off the shelf.

Lacy seemed to expect more of an answer.  When she didn't get it, she played with her wireless, turning the volume up and down, and adjusting the station a few time before putting it back where it was.  "So how come your grandfather's guests never come in to town?"

"Because there's nothing to do here," Draco drawled and set a down a new can of Pringles.

"Point," Lacy conceded.  "You want to get out of here?"

"More than you could possibly imagine," Draco said with a bland smile.  For some reason the grocer girl wasn't annoying him quite as much as she usually did.

"You have to come with us, Saturday," she said, putting a hand on his arm.  Draco glared at her, but she didn't remove it.  "We're going to Greater Hangleton.  They leave the highschool gym open on Saturdays.  We're all going to squeeze into Steven's car and try to play some basketball."

"Not interested."

"Oh, come on!  It'll be good for you," Lacy insisted.  "We don't bite...not hard anyway."

"I'm not going."

Lacy took her hand off his arm and started ringing up the purchase.  "We'll pick you up around eleven in morning."

"I'm not going!"

"You know there's a rumor that the Old Riddle House is haunted."

Draco frowned.  "What does that have to do with anything?"

"Well, have you seen any?"

"What?"

"Ghosts."

"No."

"Hm," Lacy said, looking disappointed.  "Give me your card."  Draco handed it over.  "You know I saw one once."

"Good for you," Draco grumbled, snatching his card back.  He stuffed the bags onto the wagon.

"See you Saturday!" Lacy called as he left, letting the door slam behind him.  He got a couple of odd stares as he rolled it back to the Riddle House, but they didn't bother him.  His mind was on other things before he had left the village green...lovely, exciting, completely wonderful and frightening sort of things.

He stuffed the refrigerator and the pantry once again and took the wagon back to the shed.  He took a little detour on the way back to the house to the Greater Hangleton Library.  He renewed his overdue books and checked his journal.

He asked the librarian about "Wilber Shacklespear".  The woman laughed so long and hard after he said he wanted a copy of "Romeo and Juliet", that he got annoyed and started to walk away.  But she ran after him, apologized, and led him to a copy of "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare".

Draco left with the thick book in hand and returned to Little Hangelton.  He let the kitchen door slam as he passed through, and went down to Snape's chambers.  He knew how to pass through Snape's simpler wards and cracked the door open.  "Potter's back," he announced blandly.

Snape grunted at this unfortunate news. He may have been honorable towards the Order of the Phoenix but that didn't mean he liked Potter.

Snape didn't seem too interested in details, so Draco closed the door again and went up to his room to read.
