Draco awoke the next morning to find the sun already pretty high. He
swore softly. He was going to be late for Pansy.
He hurried down the stairs, then opened the panel to the secret stairs that
led to the magically constructed caverns under the Riddle House. He went
into Snape's potions lab. The black clad Potions master was
studying a rather complicated contraption that was dripping fluids. Draco
passed by him quietly to checked on his own little projects brewing in the
corner. He gave the first cauldron a stir and checked the color of the
second. He surreptitiously put the unicorn hair in his small personal
stock of potion ingredients.
Then he went to the cabinet to find a Hair Raising potion.
"Are you in need of
something Mr. Malfoy?" Snape hissed. He bloody well new Draco had his own
projects, but he just liked to watch him cringe.
Snape stirred his potion counter clock-wise. Voldemort had wanted him to work
on a strengthening potion, Snape on the other hand, was considering a weakening
potion. He just had to figure out a way to make them look, smell, and taste
exactly alike.
"Um, Hair Raising
potion," Draco said, trying to sound casual and closed his hand around the
appropriate bottle. "I'm going to try to get that wolfsbane for you."
"Make sure you come
back with it this time," Snape drawled.
Draco blinked. Snape
seriously wasn't going to grill him about how he would get the wolfsbane.
Coming to he grabbed the hair raising potion and raced up the stairs. Using gloves,
he slapped a little on like aftershave and felt the uncomfortably itchy
sensation as a beard sprouted. He trimmed it, so it looked relatively neat,
then transfigured both his hair and beard to brown again.
He put on a purple cloak that he had borrowed from one of the other Death
Eaters, and once again donned the fake glasses. He took a deep breath checked
himself in the mirror and admired the stranger that stared back. It was almost
noon, so he decided not to hesitate any longer.
He took a deep breath and disapparated.
